The Gulf of Suez Petroleum Company (GUPCO) held three training courses, which saw the participation of 51 trainees out of a total of 190 targeted by the program. These courses are part of a comprehensive training plan aimed at raising employee’s efficiency and enhancing their practical and theoretical capabilities. The training program used the application of Human and Organizational Performance (HOP) concepts, which focus on designing organizational systems characterized by flexibility and the ability to accommodate human errors.
The courses come in the context of leveraging the existing partnership between the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC) and Baker Hughes to develop leadership capabilities in the field of health, occupational safety, and environmental protection (HSE), through the application of HOP concepts in petroleum sector companies
GUPCO courses saw excellent interaction from the trainees, as they focused on providing high-quality training content that aligns with labor market demands. They also relied on modern training methods to ensure maximum benefit from the time and effort invested.
The remaining training courses are scheduled to be held sequentially over the coming period. This is to ensure all trainees have the opportunity to benefit and achieve their desired professional development.
In April 2025, EGPC inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with global energy technology company Baker Hughes, for the development of an integrated governance framework for HSE. The training program aims to be a scientific and practical approach leading to understanding the underlying factors in operations management, analyzing work to identify potential hazards before accidents occur, promoting a safe work environment that encourages understanding, reporting, and immediate handling of errors and learning from them, and developing accident investigation skills .
