Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, appointed Mohamed Awad as Chairman and Managing Director of Petrosilah Petroleum Company. The decision also included the appointment of Mostafa Abdel-Moneim Abbas as General Manager of Operations for the company.
According to the Ministry’s statement, this strategic leadership change is part of the sector’s broader strategy to support efficiency and integrate fresh talent and expertise into key production sites.
Awad holds a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from Suez Canal University in 1994. He began his career in the sector in 1997 as an engineer at PetroGulf, where he progressed through various roles. By 2013, he served as Processing Assistant General Manager at the company. He then took on the role of Surface Operations General Manager in 2022, before his most recent position as General Manager of Operations and Board Member at the company.
Abbas earned his Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from Suez Canal University in 2002. He also obtained a postgraduate diploma in natural gas engineering from Cairo University in 2014. He started his career in the sector in 2002 as an engineer at Suez Oil Company (SUCO). His progression led him to the position of Field Production Assistant General Manager at Petrosilah in 2019, and he most recently served as Field Operations General Manager at the company in 2021.
Petrosilah was established in May 2010 as a joint venture between the EGPC and Merlon International, responsible for developing the discoveries made in the Fayum exploration block.
