Salah Abdel Kerim, CEO of the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC), made a surprise visit to Misr Petroleum Company’s depot in Mansoura, Dakahleya Governorate, to inspect operations and assess the efficiency of petroleum receipt and delivery, shipping points, procedures, firefighting systems, and compliance with occupational health and safety standards during loading activities.
The visit included a practical drill to confront a hypothetical fire, testing the readiness and response speed of firefighting equipment and emergency teams. The drill showed high performance and full readiness to handle various emergency scenarios.
Abdel Kerim directed the formation of a task force headed by Mohamed Sabry, the EGPC Assistant Chairman for Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE), along with several safety officials from Misr Petroleum Company to conduct a specialized technical review of the depot’s shipping points system and develop an integrated executive program to improve its efficiency.
Abdel Kerim said that field follow-up at various work sites aligns with the strategies of the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources and EGPC to ensure compliance with the highest operating and safety standards and achieve sustainability in managing the petroleum products system.
In 2026, Abdel Karim made several surprise field visits, beginning in January, when he inspected the Alexandria Petroleum Company and MIDOR facilities in Alexandria and traveled to the Western Desert in June to inspect the North Bahariya Petroleum Company (NORPETCO) oil fields and evaluate the EDC REG II drilling rig and a local solar power station.
Misr Petroleum Company, founded in 1911 as Shell Egypt Ltd and nationalized in 1964, is one of Egypt’s largest petroleum marketing firms. It operates an extensive network of fuel stations across all governorates, supported by a wide distribution system and large depots, ensuring a reliable nationwide supply.
