Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, met with Hamad Obaid Al Zaabi, the United Arab Emirates’ (UAE) Ambassador to Egypt, to discuss strengthening cooperation and strategic partnerships in the oil and natural gas sector.
The meeting underscored the strong, longstanding ties between the two countries, particularly within the energy industry, according to a statement by the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources (MoPMR). Badawi highlighted the continued efforts to deepen collaboration, attract new investments, and expand the presence of Egyptian petroleum companies in the UAE.
The Ministry’s statement noted the robust investments by Emirati companies operating in Egypt, including ARCIUS Energy, Mubadala Energy, Dragon Oil, and Dana Gas. Badawi pointed out that ARCIUS Energy has already selected Egypt as its hub for launching operations across the Eastern Mediterranean.
Moreover, the Minister reviewed progress with Fujairah Ports on establishing a world-class logistics hub for petroleum storage and handling at the El Hamra Port in New Alamein. This project aims to leverage existing infrastructure and strongly supports Egypt’s goal of becoming a regional hub for energy trade.
For his part, Alzaabi asserted the UAE’s commitment to supporting and enhancing petroleum cooperation between the two countries. He affirmed the UAE would work to overcome any challenges to promote partnerships and increase joint investments, benefiting both nations.
This meeting follows Badawi’s recent engagement last month with Sharif Salim Al-Olama, the UAE Undersecretary for Energy and Petroleum Affairs in the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, where they discussed enhancing partnership and the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications in energy management systems.
