Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi chaired the first meeting of the Higher Committee for the Egypt Energy Show (EGYPES 2026) Conference and Exhibition, which will take place from March 30 to April 1, 2026, under the theme “Transforming Energy Through Collaboration, Action, and Realism.”
The meeting, held in Cairo, was attended by Manal Awad, Minister of Local Development and Acting Minister of Environment, via video conference, alongside senior officials from the petroleum sector, representatives of international oil and energy companies operating in Egypt, and delegates from global energy organizations.
During the session, Minister Badawi expressed appreciation to Egypt’s international partners for their sustained investment and active role in increasing oil and gas production, emphasizing that EGYPES 2026 will host constructive dialogues on oil, gas, electricity, renewable energy, environment, and finance. The conference will also explore pathways for integrating technology, driving innovation, and fostering cooperation to advance a sustainable energy future.
Representatives of international energy companies reaffirmed Egypt’s growing role as a regional energy hub and gateway to Africa, underscoring the importance of leveraging existing infrastructure to enhance regional cooperation in the Eastern Mediterranean and across the African continent.
According to the committee, the upcoming edition of EGYPES is expected to attract over 50,000 visitors, 500 exhibiting companies, 2,200 delegation members, 350 speakers, 50 oil and energy companies, and 15 international pavilions, in addition to 100 specialized sessions. Discussions will address developments in global energy markets, the future of natural gas and LNG, power generation, maritime transport, offshore projects, and emerging African energy markets. Sessions will also focus on leadership, renewable energy, hydrogen, distribution, manufacturing, marketing, finance, and investment.
On the sidelines of the meeting, Minister Badawi met with Saleh bin Eid Al-Hussaini, Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Cairo, Polly Ioannou, Ambassador of Cyprus, and Nikos Papageorgiou, Ambassador of Greece, to review preparations for EGYPES 2026.
During the talks, Badawi emphasized Egypt’s historical ties with its neighbors and its commitment to expanding cooperation in the oil, gas, and energy sectors. He described EGYPES as a key platform for strengthening regional partnerships, particularly in natural gas and infrastructure projects in the Eastern Mediterranean — now a cornerstone of regional collaboration.
The Saudi Ambassador highlighted the strong strategic alignment between Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Cyprus, and Greece, and praised joint efforts to unlock the region’s gas potential through an integrated framework of cooperation. The Cypriot Ambassador noted that several Cypriot companies have expressed interest in participating in EGYPES 2026 to explore investment opportunities in Egypt’s energy sector, while the Greek Ambassador lauded EGYPES as a leading global platform connecting companies and institutions from across the energy value chain.
Launched in 2017 under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, EGYPES serves as a major annual platform, bringing government officials, international oil companies (IOCs), national oil companies (NOCs), service providers, investors, and energy professionals together to discuss the latest developments in the oil, gas, and energy sectors.
