Dubai’s power generation fell year on year in the second quarter. It was the first decline shown in the fig-ures since Dewa started publishing quarterly data in 2022. Total electricity generation fell by 6.6% to 15.8TWh as the regional conflict weighed on demand (see chart 1). This is part of a broader regional trend as restrictions on shipping through the Strait of Hormuz have forced industries across the Gulf states to scale back operations (MEES, 5 June).
