Iman Hill, Country Manager and Managing Director of Vaalco Energy Egypt, has been appointed Chairwoman of the Egypt Oil and Gas Committee, effective December 11—the set date for EOG2025 convention.
The announcement was made during the Committee’s Executive Board meeting on November 24, which also witnessed the launch of a comprehensive restructuring of the committee’s operational framework.
“We want a sustainable environment that makes it easy to invest in Egypt so that when we come to capital allocation, Egypt is an easy choice for our companies,” Hill emphasized—signaling her strategic priorities during her tenure.
During the meeting, Hill outlined key focus areas for 2026, including the promotion of frontline best practices to boost production and unlock gas potential. She cited Vaalco Energy’s 2025 success in increasing output using low-cost artificial lift optimization as a model for industry-wide replication.
Hill further focused on energy efficiency as the balanced solution to achieve decarbonization and energy transition. “Energy transition has not gone away. What has happened is that we have become balanced about how we talk about the energy transition, because it was never going to be a pop-off switch, and it was never going to be a change away from fossil fuels, but it was about us cleaning up our act and also having a marriage between fossil fuels and cleaner sources of energy,” she said.
Discussions through the meeting highlighted the fact that by integrating the technical capabilities of global technology providers with the operational reach of major IOCs, the restructured Committee could function as a technical support hub. This was evident from the presentation on the outcomes of the field technical workshops held at last year’s EOG Convention and those concluded this year.
Beyond her leadership role in the Committee, Hill brings over three decades of experience in the oil and gas sector, with a strong track record across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. Her career includes senior executive positions at Shell International, Vice President Africa at Sasol, Technical Director and General Manager UAE & President Egypt at Dana Gas, and Chief Operating Officer at Energean.
