Cairn Oil & Gas, India’s largest private operator, has signed a “strategic alliance” with TechnipFMC to speed up subsea infrastructure development for future deepwater projects in the region.
The partnership will let Cairn use TechnipFMC’s integrated engineering, procurement, construction and installation (iEPCI) model to “rapidly advance” its deepwater ambitions, according to an announcement of the deal, the value of which was not revealed.
TechnipFMC will also offer its integrated front-end engineering and design (iFEED) services to optimise project performance.
TechnipFMC signed the deal in Houston, US, with Anil Agarwal, chairman of Cairn parent Vedanta Group, at the CERAWeek by S&P Global energy conference.
“This collaboration is a pivotal step in realising our deepwater goals,” Cairn chief financial officer, Hitesh Vaid, said in a statement.
“TechnipFMC’s expertise is a perfect match for our ambitions, and together we will push forward at the pace required to meet our bold targets.”
