Morocco is relying increasingly on electricity imports from Spain, which have risen to their highest level in nine years. Despite ambitious plans to become a major exporter of low-carbon electricity to Europe, Morocco’s imports from Spain exceeded 500GWh last month for the first time since August 2017 (see chart 1).
