Saudi Arabia’s electricity consumption is on a staggering upwards trajectory, making the task of displacing liquids from the power sector an increasingly challenging one. A record 160.5TWh was delivered to customers through the grid over the first six months of 2025, up 10% year-on-year (see charts 1 & 2).
“We are growing, we are more efficient, and we are delivering a robust performance which is reflected in the following; strong growth in energy demand, which we meet with higher power production, better fleet availability and all without compromising on reliability or safety,” says Khalid bin Salim al-Ghamdi, the CEO of the Saudi Electricity Company (SEC).
