Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi has announced a new round of transfers and appointments involving senior officials at the ministry, the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS), and several petroleum and mineral resources sector companies. The reshuffle aims to strengthen key petroleum entities with the required expertise to drive future objectives and encourage knowledge exchange. It also includes filling leadership positions that have recently become, or are expected to become, vacant due to retirements.
Yasseen Mohamed was appointed First Undersecretary and Supervisor, Health, Safety and Environment(HSE), Energy Efficiency and Climate at the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources. Mohamed has been Chairman of the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) since 2024.
Mahmoud Abdelhamid was assigned the role of EGAS’ Chairman and Managing Director. Abdelhamid was Chairman of Tharwa Petroleum Company since 2024, and Tharwa Breda Petroleum Services Company (TBPSCO) earlier in 2025.
Saeed Abdel Moneim was appointed Chairman and Managing Director of Tharwa Petroleum and TBPSCO. Abdel Moneim has been Chairman of Khalda Petroleum since 2020.
Moataz Atef was assigned the role of Chairman of Khalda Petroleum. Atef was Head of the Central Administration of the Technical Office and official spokesperson of the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources (MoPMR) since 2024.
Abeer El-Sherbiny was appointed as General Manager of the Central Administration of the Technical Office at the MoPMR. El-Sherbiny had been appointed assistant to the Technical Office Head earlier in 2025.
Amr Ashraf Abdel Hamid was assigned the role of the Minister’s Office Manager at the MoPMR. Abdel Hamid started his career in the oil and gas sector by working as an engineer in the Gulf of Suez Petroleum Company (GUPCO) in 2013. He then worked in the Liquefaction Facilities Follow-up Department and the Gasification Units Operations and Networks Department at EGAS. He was seconded to work at the East Mediterranean Gas Forum (EMGF) in 2022.
Mohamed Dawood was appointed General Manager of Media for the Central Administration of International Relations and Media at the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources. Dawood has been the International Relations and Media General Manager since 2024.
Mohamed El Meligy was assigned the role of El Hamra Oil Company’s Chairman. El Meligy has been Gemsa Petroleum Company’s (GEMPETCO) Chairman since 2022.
Mahrous Moatamad was appointed GEMPETCO Chairman. Moatamad has been Magawish Petroleum Company’s (Magapetco) Chairman since 2024.
Sami El Shahat was assigned the role of Magapetco Chairman. El Shahat has been Chairman of Borg El-Arab Petroleum Company (BORAPETCO) since 2021.
Mostafa El Mihi was appointed BORAPETCO Chairman. El Mihi has been General Director of Exploration and Member of the Board of Directors of GEMPETCO since 2023.
Tarek Abdelfattah was assigned the role of Chairman of South Abu Zenima Petroleum Company (Petrozenima). Abdelfattah has been Operations General Manager at Petrozenima since 2023.
Hany Mohamed Tawfek was appointed Chairman of Petroleum Safety and Environmental Services Company (Petrosafe). He had been appointed HSE General Manager at MoPMR earlier in 2025.
