On the sidelines of the Oman Green Hydrogen Summit 2025, Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, held a series of meetings aimed at strengthening the presence of Egyptian petroleum companies in Oman and expanding bilateral cooperation in green energy and major infrastructure projects.
Badawi met with senior officials from Hydrogen Oman Company (Hydrome) and the Oman Tank Terminal Company (OTTCO), in the presence of the heads of the Petroleum Projects and Technical Consultations Company (Petrojet) and the Engineering for the Petroleum and Process Industries (ENPPI), and Wael Lotfy, the ministry’s Undersecretary for Projects. The discussions focused on establishing frameworks for joint project implementation and capitalizing on Egyptian capabilities in pipelines, engineering, construction, and energy transition initiatives.
In talks with Abdul Aziz Al-Shidhani, Managing Director of Hydrome and national developer of Oman’s green hydrogen sector, Badawi highlighted Egypt’s commitment to deepening strategic cooperation to enable Petrojet and other companies to contribute to the Sultanate’s major green hydrogen and ammonia projects, particularly in Salalah and Duqm.
Furthermore, he affirmed the readiness of Egyptian companies to take part in engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) works and discussed infrastructure planning for hydrogen exports and ecosystem localization. The meeting concluded with agreement on including Petrojet in Hydrome’s list of contractors and an invitation for Hydrome to participate in the Egypt Energy Show (EGYPES) 2026.
Storage and Export Infrastructure
In a separate meeting with Salim Al-Hashmi, Managing Director of OTTCO, Badawi underscored the complementary capabilities of Petrojet and ENPPI and their extensive experience in oil and natural gas megaprojects. The talks explored cooperation opportunities in storage, pipelines, and export terminal facilities. Moreover, discussions included Petrojet’s ongoing work on pipeline projects supporting the Duqm Refinery expansion and progress on the Iraqi crude storage project. Potential opportunities for ENPPI to provide integrated engineering services in future Duqm projects were also reviewed.
The two sides further examined prospects for joint training and expertise exchange programs, particularly within the framework of OTTCO’s strategic partnership with Royal Vopak International.
Egyptian Companies’ Presence
Egyptian oil and natural gas companies have been steadily expanding their presence in Oman, leveraging strong bilateral ties and growing cooperation in energy and infrastructure. Petrojet is actively involved in major projects linked to the Duqm Refinery expansion, including pipeline construction in the Ras Markaz area and work on storage facilities for Iraqi crude. The company is also positioning itself for participation in Oman’s emerging green hydrogen and ammonia ventures.
ENPPI continues to pursue opportunities in engineering and project management across the Sultanate, offering integrated technical studies, basic and detailed design services, and support for large-scale energy and industrial developments.
