Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi met with representatives from the Arabian Geophysical and Surveying Company (ARGAS), Metatek, Excalibur, and Novia. Specialized in aerial surveying and seismic imaging, the companies discussed with the minister collaborating on a national project to create a comprehensive geological database for all of Egypt. The goal is to make data accessible to both local and international companies interested in mining investments.
During the meeting, Minister Badawi emphasized the crucial role of aerial and seismic surveys in identifying promising mining investment opportunities. He also highlighted the increasing global interest in Egypt’s mining sector, crediting the country’s recent structural and reform measures. He pointed out several key advantages in Egypt, including a strong infrastructure of ports, airports, and roads, as well as the availability of energy through enhanced domestic production and imports.
Badawi further noted the recent development of Egypt’s legislative framework, including the transformation of the Egyptian Mineral Resources Authority into an economic body under the name ‘Mineral Resources and Mining Industries Authority” (MRMIA) to create a more internationally competitive investment environment.
ARGAS is the oldest global company in the domain of field data acquisition services to support mining, underground water exploration, oil, gas and geothermal exploration services. On the other hand, Metatek provides consultancy, data acquisition, processing and interpretation services for air, Excalibur Surveys Ltd. is specialized in engineering surveys, and Novia in providing custom, engineered vibration isolation and seismic restraint systems.
